Danny Bayha

Danny is a fifty year old Sathu Go’tine, the son of Moise and Veronica Bayha.  He and his wife Judy have been married since 1995 and live with their four children in Deline.  He has owned and operated an auto repair shop and general contracting business in the community for many years.

Danny attended Grandin College in Fort Smith, later achieved his red seal designation as a heavy vehicle mechanic, and then went back to school and received his Bachelor of Biological Sciences degree from the University of Calgary in 1998.  During this period, he also worked for the Department of Transportation in Hay River and for the NWT Power Corporation in Deline.

Danny currently is a regular member of the main council of the Dene Go’tine Government, and was a past member of the Dene First Nation Council and education council.  He served as regular member and then Chair of the Sahtu Health and Social Services Authority, and as Vice President of the Deline Land Corporation.  From 2000 to 2012, Danny was a board member of the Mackenzie Valley Environmental Impact Review Board.  Since 2005, he has served as Board Member and Vice Chair of the Sahtu Land Use Planning Board.

Danny was appointed to the NWT Surface Rights Board as the Sahtu Region member in 2015 and is currently serving his second term.
